Start 2005 by honing your leadership skills at the SLA 2005 Leadership Summit at the Hyatt Regency Tampa in Tampa, Florida USA, January 26-29. Join information professionals from multiple geographic areas and disciplines in a journey you won’t soon forget.

This unique leadership development program will provide both substantive content AND time for individual reflection. Seize this opportunity to step back from your day-to-day routine and engage in group learning and skill-building exercises guaranteed to push your thinking and advance your leadership skills.

Time is built into the program for small group learning in a case-study environment and focused on multiple levels of experience. At the same time, you'll have fun and build lasting relationships with other information professionals.

At the conclusion of this program, you will not only walk away with the tools you need to succeed, but you'll have acquired leadership skills and a peer support network that you can rely on for the rest of your career.

 

SLA, along with the SLA Florida and Caribbean Chapter will be hosting a silent auction at the Florida Aquarium Thursday, January 27, 2005, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm.  Proceeds will benefit the SLA Professional Development Campaign.

Organizers of the live auction are still accepting auction item donations. If you would like to donate an auction item, please visit the SLA Online Auction at, click on donate now, complete the item donation form and specify in the description area that you would like your donation to go toward the live auction on January 27th.

A very limited number of smaller meeting rooms are available for Committee activities during the Leadership Summit. If Committee Chairs wish to schedule a meeting, please contact Linda Broussard at linda@sla.org indicating the date, start/end times, title of program, expected attendance, room set-up, food and beverage needs, audio visual needs and a billing contact. Please avoid conflicts with Board and Cabinet Meetings and remember that most committees have only a $100 allotment and costs need to be kept within this constraint. Please note that space is very limited this year. While we will do our best to accommodate all requests, our ability to do so is limited by room availability.

 

The host hotel for the meeting is the Hyatt Regency Tampa , 211 North Tampa Street, Tampa, Florida 33602 USA.The hotel is currently accepting reservations. SLA's group accommodation rates are as follows:

US $119 single/double
US $139 triple
US $149 quad

These rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes. Call the Hyatt at 1-813-225-1234 and ask for the Special Libraries Association rate. December 25, 2004 is the cut-off date to assure these rates.  


Our host is the Florida and Carribean Chapter of SLA and they've developed a "Welcome" site to familiarize you with the city. Plan to arrive early and/or stay later to experience all that Tampa has to offer.

SLA have just created a new Community of Practice for the 2005 Leadership Summit in Tampa. You are invited to join and contribute as appropriate. There will be members of the local host committee joining to answer questions, post information about attendees experience while in Tampa.
