Future Now: Operation Agility

Join SLA leaders from around the globe for the 2012 Leadership Summit in Atlanta, Georgia, 25 - 28 January. 2012 President Brent Mai will launch the Summit with the association's vision for 2012-2014.  Learn not only how the association's initiatives and priorities will affect your chapter or division, but also learn how to develop a strategic plan for your chapter or division;  a skill-set which translates to what employers are seeking in today's information professional.

An exciting component of the Summit will be the research and best practices developed to date on the year-long Loyalty Project led by James Kane.  Leaders from the six chapters who have working with him will share best practices to date in five key areas:  member relationships; leadership relationships, engaging remote members; community relationships and vendor relationships.  How will these work in your chapter or division?  Practical exercises will empower you to take this information home.

Unit programming is taking on a new face today -- chapters continue to use face-to-face meetings and webinars year round.  Divisions are doing so, too, no longer meeting the programming needs just through annual conference programming.  What works?  What doesn't?  Has your unit converted its website to the exciting new WordPress platform?  What networking strategies are units successfully using?

And, every leader wants to learn the intricacies of Robert's Rules of Order.  Learn more than the rules; learn how to run an effective meeting.

The 2013 annual conference will begin to take shape as division, caucus and chapter planners gather on Wednesday afternoon for their planning meetings.  If you arrive early enough, join the SLA Board meeting and learn how the association is governed by your peers.  The cabinets will meet Friday afternoon.  Many divisions will also have their Board meetings Friday evening and Saturday.

Our vendor community will be represented with table top booths so that you can have the opportunity to learn about the latest products and services to make you successful in your job.  They are our partners in making Leadership Summit 2012 a success.

The Georgia Chapter will be quite active in welcoming you to Atlanta.  They will share warm Southern hospitality, familiarize you with their city and co-host a fabulous party at Neiman Marcus Café on Thursday evening.
