VIII. PROCEDURES MANUALS
All chapters should maintain formal procedure manuals to supplement these Guidelines and to define in detail the responsibilities and duties of the individual chapter officers and committee chairs. Copies of procedure manuals and any subsequent revisions must be sent to the Membership Development Department at the association office and to the Chapter Chair and Chair-elect.
Procedures manuals generally include a copy of the chapter's current bylaws in addition to information on duties and responsibilities. Some contain a section on chapter bulletin preparation. A procedures manual should also include a calendar of deadlines for officers and committee chairs.
The chapter procedures manual is an excellent tool for efficient chapter management, and each chapter is encouraged to prepare its own manual. A former president is often chosen to undertake the preparation and/or updating of the procedures manual. Each chapter officer should keep a reference copy of the chapter procedures manual. It is important that outgoing chapter officers pass their copies of the procedures manual to the incoming officers. This should be done as soon as election results are known.
