SLA Guest Leader Editorial
Leadership and Management Division Chair Lois Weinstein posted an article to the leadership list about the Future of SLA. It gives her perspective of how SLA and all of the members who care about their association can contribute to its bright future. It also answers a key question raised after Executive Director Janice Lachance's "state of the association" address at Leadership Summit: "I heard Janice's comments, I care about making a difference, but what is my call to action?" Lois' article has been placed in the Bulletin Editors Resource Center and she has invited all chapters and divisions to consider including this article in your next bulletin.
SLA to Change Governance Year
The SLA Board of Directors has approved changing the governance year to match the fiscal year and has asked staff to implement this change for FY07. The Board of Directors will be extending terms beginning June 2006 to December 2007. The Board leaves the decision to individual units. However, the Chapter Cabinet Chair and Chair-Elect recommend that units, if possible, follow the Board's schedule.

SLA and all of its members win, due to the efforts of our members sharing the value of their membership and inviting others to join. Our network expanded tremendously during the period between October 1 and December 31, 2004. A drawing was held at the Leadership Summit for the recruiter first prize (an HP iPAQ rx3100 series Mobile Media Companion). Linda Schneider,University of Western Ontario, was the first prize winner whose name was drawn from the pool of all new member recruiters. The Chapter and Division winners to recruit the most new members were the European Chapter and Competitive Intelligence Division; the Omaha Area Chapter and the Competitive Intelligence Division had the largest percentage increase in their membership. Please visit the SLA website to view the President?s Club and final campaign results.
