A Message from the Executive Director
Celebrating and Taking Account
These last few weeks have been exciting as yet another association year comes to a close and a new one begins. Many of the chapters had their annual business meetings in May and the divisions celebrated at annual conference. I?m sure that each group of our leaders celebrated the accomplishments of the year and look forward to doing more great things for our members and the profession in the next. Congratulations to all of you who made 2004-05 a collective success.
Celebrating education?Conference attendees packed the general sessions featuring world-renowned keynote speakers and participated in a full schedule selected from the hundreds of conference sessions and CE courses. Education continues 24 hours each and every day with the launch of CLICK University, an exclusive SLA member benefit, bringing continuing education to your desktop. You may choose from courses ranging from software programs you use every day to a graduate degree program.
Celebrating networking?SLA also launched its first conference blog where bloggers shared their experiences with not only those attending but also those wishing they were there. And, there was networking from dawn breakfast meetings to way beyond dusk hospitality gatherings.
Celebrating our leaders?I would like to personally thank the SLA Board of Directors and committees for the extraordinary time they devoted to guiding the association to ensure that YOUR needs are met not only for now but into the future. Please remember to thank all who devoted similar time and effort for SLA?s chapters, divisions, caucuses, and committees.
As we take account for the successes of the past year, I look forward to working directly with the approximately 2,000 volunteer leaders who will do it again next year.
---- Janice R. Lachance, Executive Director

SLA Expands with the Addition of Two New Caucuses
At their June 8, 2005 meeting, the SLA Board approved the creation of two new caucuses. Where the activities of other units are aligned with the scope of the Inclusion Caucus, the caucus will link to and promote the efforts of the other unit. The co-conveners are Linda Absher and Liz Blankson-Hemens.
