A. The control of funds provided under this program rests with the submitting person or group and will be used for the purposes stated in this proposal. The funds will be spent only for the purpose for which they are granted. Grant recipients who fail to complete their projects within agreed upon schedule, without justification and approval by SLA, will be required to return the full amount of funds granted to the Special Libraries Association. The grant is disbursed in quarterly installments. Each payment is tied to the timely receipt by SLA Headquarters of written and electronic quarterly reports demonstrating acceptable progress on the project. One quarter of the total grant amount will be withheld until the final report has been submitted to SLA.
B. A written report will be generated. SLA reserves the right of first refusal for publication of any written reports about or resulting from the project. It is understood that the SLA will make this information available to its membership via print, electronic, or any other method deemed appropriate. Results will be provided to SLA in print and electronic formats agreed upon by SLA. Publication or presentation of any interim or final report, either written or oral, must be approved in advance in writing by SLA.
C. Any report, either written or oral, of the project's activities must appropriately credit the grant support provided by the SLA Research Fund, SLA and the year the grant was awarded, and include contact information for the SLA (www.sla.org).
D. Recipients must file quarterly status reports on their projects until completion. Upon completion of this project, the grantee will make a final report to SLA, containing a summary of the activities, financial documents and records, and an evaluation. The recipients are also required to write an article that gives an overview of the research project. The article will be approximately 1,500 words, and will be written for inclusion in the Association's publications. The recipients of the association operations project grant may wish to write an article, but are not required to do so.
E. All activities included in this grant shall be carried out in accordance with the policies and procedures of the SLA.
