Winner of PAM International Membership Award Debra Bailey I am delighted to announce Demissew Tsigemelak Gebreyohannes has been chosen as the winner of the 2006 PAM International Membership Award. Demissew is currently a Science Librarian at Addis Ababa University in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. As part of the award, Demissew will be a member of the International Relations Committee and will join us for the 2006 annual conference in Baltimore, Maryland, where he will speak about his experiences at his library in Addis Ababa. Please join me in welcoming Mr. Demissew Tsigemelak (demissew@lib.aau.edu.et) or (demissewt@yahoo.com) as our newest PAM member. The PAM International Membership Award, first given in 1999, provides an opportunity for a librarian from the developing world to be active members of SLA and SLA-PAM. The purpose of the IRC committee is to strengthen communication among PAM librarians worldwide through professional and personal contacts; * To enable PAM librarians and information specialists to provide information in a timely manner; * To promote equity of access to online resources for everyone, by informing publishers and other information providers of technological weaknesses especially in the Developing World; * To foster information exchange between SLA members and special librarians worldwide, especially those in the Developing World.
