Unit Bank Statements Practice

The Unit Reporting Requirements Policy requires that the Association have oversight of all individual Unit’s bank accounts. Monthly bank statements are a part of the Annual Financial Report.  There are fundamental reasons for this policy, primarily that SLA is one corporation and that all Units are part of that corporation.  In addition, the SLA external auditors, as part of their Financial and Audit practices require that the Associate receive regular statements for all Unit bank accounts.

As a part of the Annual Financial Report, Chapters and Divisions are required to submit monthly bank statements.  Following a list of options on how to meet this reporting requirement.

  1. Direct access
    *  Place SLA’s Chief Operating Officer (Michele Jerome) as a signator on the account with online access to view the account activity
    *  Provide the Chief Financial Officer with a deposit resolution authority with online access to view the account
    *  Arrange for the Chief Financial Officer to have online access to view the account in a manner that conforms to your local banking regulations

  2. Direct reporting from the Bank
    *  Have a copy of the  printed monthly financial statement sent to the Association, attention Controller
    *  Arrange that the bank send an electronic copy of bank statement to controller@sla.org.

  3. Reporting from the local Unit
    *  Mail a hard copy of the bank statement to Controller at the SLA address
    *  Send a pdf of the monthly statement to controller@sla.org
