Be a lab rat!
The Innovation Laboratory is designed as a place where you can play and discover uses for the latest emerging technologies. It's a unique resource for SLA members to discover new technologies. The Laboratory offers a wide variety of Web 2.0 software learning tools to help you become more business savvy and technologically adept.
 
The Innovation Lab provides tools to SLA units (chapters, divisions, committees, caucuses, task forces, etc.) to build and implement useful services for your members. The initiative adds deep value to acquiring and retaining SLA membership.
 
Join us in the Laboratory
SLA has a long tradition of successful education initiatives. Learning opportunities abound, but the SLA Innovation Laboratory differs from continuous learning in that it does not necessarily require a course, conference or event. Its something members -- you -- do for yourself, independently or in small groups. By offering the SLA Innovation Laboratory for members to discover, play, and learn, we have the framework for 24/7 independent learning opportunities. This is an expansion of SLA's learning strategies for you to invest the time and have fun learning..

SLA is committed to fulfilling its members' needs, and these are increasingly represented in technological training and self-learning activities. The Innovation Laboratory is  populated with SLA-licensed software and open-source applications. The selection of tools we offer will be evolve with your input and as budgets allow.
 

In addition, to software applications, SLA will be offering, free technology training courses to members. Including such topics as:

  • Setup and use of a wiki
  • Setup and use of a blog
  • Using Adobe for client communication
  • Understanding social networking
  • Web development with Dreamweaver
  • Creating podcasts 

Visit the Innovation Lab when you are able. Experiment with and learn about the new technologies and then to share your learning with other members in the collegial, and wonderful fashion that SLA is known for.
