InfoAction, the fee-for-service division of Vancouver Public Library, began offering services in 1995 and reached break-even for the first time in 2005. In early 2006, the division anticipated a loss at mid-year. Instead, InfoAction ended the year with a profit and made more than Can$25,000 in 2007. At mid-year 2008, our profit stands at Can$108,000 and our revenue has doubled. How did we get here? What did we learn that's relevant for your information service?
