On 28 October 2008, three years after the commencement of two lawsuits against Google Inc., the parties have reached a 141-page settlement (subject to a U.S. district court approval) in relation to Google Book Search. If approved, Google will make a total of US$ 125 million in payments. This money will go towards resolving existing copyright claims by authors and publishers, legal fees and establishing the Book Rights Registry.
