SLA Search

Quick Search
Keywords are assigned to each page of our site utilizing a custom taxonomy
and rule-base to facilitate consistent and accurate keyword searching. When
you enter a term in the search box, your search is passed through our taxonomy
engine to find the most accurate search term. The taxonomy term is then used
to search the keyword database.
For example, if you entered the word "vision", the taxonomy engine would return
(keywords Mission statement and Organizational vision) and the search results
would related to the Association mission, vision and core values. Statistics
and search terms are captured so that we can monitor and adjust the taxonomy
when necessary.
If the taxonomy search does not return any results, your search is automatically
widened to include page titles, and description information. If the widened
search does not return any results, your search will be automatically run against
the full text index.
Full Text Search
Every evening our system creates a full text index of both the active and archived
content of our site. The full text search utilizes these indexes to quickly
search the entire site. Boolean searches (connected by ANDs and ORs) can be
used here with good results. Partial matches will not be returned unless you
include the wild card symbol *. Results are returned with the most recent documents
at the top of the list.
All pages with the phrase "library and policy" (in that order, with the word
"and" literally between them).
Unit Search
Unit web sites do not utilize the taxonomy and can be searched using the full
text search instructions above to search the index of SLA-hosted Unit (Chapter/Division/Caucus
and Committee) web sites.
Archive Search
Archive searches are available in full text only. After executing a full text search, click on the search archives link to search the archived pages.
