Information Insights
Information Insights is a weekly curated e-newsletter that keeps SLA members apprised of recent developments in the information and library fields. Each week, Information Insights delivers updates on knowledge management, data visualization, academic research, and other topics of interest to special librarians and information professionals. Information Insights is a free benefit of SLA membership.

Inactive Publications

Information Outlook (1997-2020)

Information Outlook magazine was published monthly from 1997-2008, eight times per year from 2009-2011, and six times per year from 2012-2019. It ceased publication with the March-April 2020 issue.

Information Outlook contained—

  • articles on trending topics such as data curation, digital asset management, bibliometrics, and value co-creation;
  • columns about technology, copyright law, and other issues of perpetual interest; and
  • interviews with SLA members, offering a close-up look at information professionals in different disciplines, work environments, and countries.

Back issues of Information Outlook from 1997-2015 are archived in San Jose State University’s institutional repository, ScholarWorks, and are available to the public. Issues from 2016 through 2020 are hosted by a third party and are available only to SLA members.

Special Libraries (1910-1996)

Special Libraries was a journal and later a magazine that was succeeded by Information Outlook. Special Libraries contained articles and columns on issues such as cataloging and indexing, information about SLA activities and initiatives, book reviews, and general information about the library and information profession.

Back issues of Special Libraries are archived in San Jose State University’s institutional repository, ScholarWorks, and are available to the public.
