Canadian Copyright Essentials

Do you know what you need to know about Canadian copyright law? CCM201 Canadian Copyright Essentials covers the fundamentals of copyright in Canada, including the Canadian Copyright Act and court cases.  CCM201, an online course with three sessions, begins Monday, September 8.

In the course, appropriate for those in Canada and those dealing with Canadian content, you’ll learn about criteria for copyright protection, protection of rights, unlocatable copyright owners, fair dealing, copyright infringement and remedies, and the differences between Canadian and U.S. copyright law. What are your questions about Canadian copyright?

Instructor Lesley Ellen Harris of Copyrightlaws.com has worked with SLA on the Certificate in Copyright Management for seven years.  Learn more about the program by watching the recording of our recent online open house.

A companion piece to CCM201 is Lesley’s book Canadian Copyright Law, Fourth edition.  This edition addresses changes to the Canadian Copyright Act made in 2012 and discusses how the law applies to digital content and social media.

A full schedule of upcoming courses in the CCM program is available for your review. If you have questions about individual courses, the program as a whole, or discounts for members, please contact Click University staff.
