Candidate Question 3: Techie Gadget
SLA Q: What is the newest “techie” gadget that you have/would like to have, and how do/would you use it to improve the work relationship that you have with your primary clientele?
A: Juanita Richardson – Candidate for President-Elect:
Given that relationships are the most important business "tool" today, any gadget that facilitates communication supporting those relationships is a boon. For me, that gadget is my iPad.
My iPad has replaced my laptop as my "go to" tool – the apps are limitless: I use it to type notes (I have a bluetooth-enabled keyboard) to take down important details from presentations, document tasks, take minutes of meetings; I use it to keep in contact via Skype with work and family; I send and receive emails; my calendar is always up-to-date and keeps me on schedule; I log time on Facebook, staying in constant communication with my network; I follow issues on Twitter; I look up things I need to know on the fly via Safari. All of these apps help me manage my relationships in my work and family life – which are becoming ever-more entwined. And, in my down time, I read books I've borrowed from the public library. All that, and it weighs about half a kilo! Next: I will be able to speak to my gadget just like they do on Star Trek: "Computer!…"
