Education Steering Committee
The SLA Education Steering Committee is established to strategize, plan, and implement an educational curriculum, based on the association’s core competencies, to drive SLA education content to the forefront of the profession.
Committee Charge
The committee shall be responsible for—
- empowering SLA members to further develop their knowledge, skills, and careers by providing high-quality professional development opportunities to information professionals;
- supporting members and providing them with relevant and forward-thinking content to support their career growth, opportunities, and advancement;
- communicating information to, and supporting the educational activities of, the subcommittees and the association as a whole to promote a holistic and comprehensive set of offerings to members; and
- driving member engagement and contributing to the collective knowledge of the membership by promoting the expertise, knowledge, and skills of our members.

Committee Composition and Terms
The committee shall be composed of at least five (5) members, including Chairs from select subcommittees as determined by the Education Steering Committee Chair. The committee shall have four (4) members-at-large.
Two members of the SLA Board of Directors should serve as the Board liaisons. The staff liaison shall be the SLA executive director or their designee.
