Capture Your Conference Experience by Blogging

The SLA Annual Conference is a unique experience. It’s huge and confusing and contains too much information to process. Blogging is a great way to reflect on the experience afterward and share it with others.

I recommend you take notes during the conference on your smartphone/tablet/phablet using Evernote or a similar application. This is easier than carrying around paper and pens and makes the notes more accessible later. Don’t worry about capturing every scrap of information—focus on the ideas and lessons that are important to you.

After the conference, use these notes to blog about your experience. A blog is an accessible medium in which to publish reflections and share with peers and colleagues. Just remember that in writing, as in life, it pays to be honest and be exciting.

The discipline of writing and reflecting on conference takeaways allows you to process the information more fully and better integrate new knowledge into your professional life. Everyone’s conference is different. Make sure you capture yours.
