Begin your day at the Opening General Session and Awards Presentation.  Help SLA honor 2014 award recipients, then hear John Wilbanks deliver the keynote.  Session is sponsored by Copyright Clearance Center.  9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Convention Center West (CCW), Ballroom AB.

Certificate in Copyright Management instructor Lesley Ellen Harris joins us in Vancouver for Ask the Copyright Expert.  Sign up for a 10-minute time slot and get your burning copyright and licensing questions answered.  11:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., CCW, Social Media Lounge.

New for 2014:  Quick Takes sessions.  These are 15-minute opportunities to pick up some new tips and tricks or to get schooled on something new.  On Sunday, learn about working with business students, big data, altmetrics, supporting clients across the globe, and creating an effective LinkedIn profileSessions start at noon, CCW, outside of Ballroom A.

Experiencing a challenging situation at work?  Then the SLA Career Connection seminarMake the Most of a Difficult Situation: MORE Solutions to Get You Through” is for you.  This popular program is a great way to get feedback and exchange ideas about working through rough patches in the workplace.  Former board member Jill Hurst-Wahl leads the discussion.  3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., CCW, Room 110.

Book signings:  Lesley Ellen Harris is back in the evening to sign copies of her recent book Canadian Copyright Law, 4th edition.  Mary Ellen Bates will also be available to sign copies of The Reluctant Entrepreneur: Making a Living Doing What You Love and Building and Running a Successful Information Business: A Guide For the Independent Info Pro.  Lesley and Mary Ellen will be meeting fans 5:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m.  Then, come by between 5:45 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to meet Dave Pollard, author of Group Works: A Pattern Language for Bringing Life to Meetings and Other Gatherings.  Copies of all books will be available for purchase.  CCW, Social Media Lounge.
